Xavi Honours:

Supercopa de España: 2005, 2006
UEFA Champions League: 2005–06 (substitute)
Darren Fletcher Honours:
Premier League (5): 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11

FA Community Shield (4): 2003, 2007, 2008, 2010
UEFA Champions League (1): 2007–08
FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2008
Darren Fletcher was instrumental in Man United’s 2008 CL Win and some say that if he was fit they could have won the 2009 CL…
I Know honours has nothing to do with how good a player is but I just wanted to put that there.
Who was better?

Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso played a major part in Spain’s success in recent years. In a few years time these players will retire, I hear rumours that Alonso and Xavi might not even participate in the WC 2014. They are just rumours but might be possible.
What do you think? Will they still enjoy glory for the upcoming events? Or will some one cause an upset? And what do you think about Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso retiring, will futures stars like Cazorla, Martinez, Thiago and Mata replace them? I know they can’t exactly replace those legends but still are they capable enough to take their place?

“These are two champions with a great sense of positioning and know how to pick the right moment to start a move. They both have experience and technique.
“They are similar players, but in my view Pirlo has more of a range, can spread the play more and seek the longer passes. It’s true Xavi gets fewer passes wrong, but that’s because he plays them short and at most will pass 20 metres to the wings, so there are fewer risks. Andrea aims for more difficult passes and that brings with it the risk of getting it wrong sometimes.
“Andrea strokes the ball better, which is why he’s also better with free kicks and scores a few goals”
Luis Suarez explains his preference for Andrea Pirlo over Xavi
“At the end of the day, I think Pirlo is a more complete player than Xavi. Andrea strokes the ball better, which is why he’s also better with free kicks and scores a few goals. He’s also more determined in the tackle, whereas Xavi is light and just uses his positioning to defend.
“If they were to exchange teams, they would both do well, but the Catalan seems built to play for Barcelona and Spain. The Italian is more adaptable and can speed up the pace of his team-mates too. This is why I believe Pirlo is more important for Cesare Prandelli than Xavi is for Vicente Del Bosque.”
So in conclusion Suarez thinks;
Pirlo has a better range of passing, better defender, much better using dead balls, more adaptable and more infulential/important to his teams
Xavi is best suited to Tiki-Taka (only Barcelona and Spain). Spain have Alonso, Iniesta, Silva, Fabregas. Spain don’t even need Xavi, it wouldn’t affect them, just like Euro 2012 where he was rubbish (except for the final in which Italy fell apart).
Don’t tell me Pirlo can’t do what Xavi can. Pirlo made the most passes in Euro, he had the most MOTM awards (tied with Iniesta) with ITALY, a team that two years ago flew out of the WC and had scandals
Not to mention moments like this (his last season for Milan, match winning goal) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLJmXFeKX…
And assists like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWg0dtZuE…
Xavi can’t do stuff like that. He plays it safe, only passes 20m away and only shoots from 6 yards out (when he does shoot from outside the box it flies wide)
